Misato Yokoyama was born in Obihiro, Japan where she began playing the piano at the age of four. After winning first prize at the PTNA National Young Pianists Competition,she was awarded a full scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied under Christopher Elton and Maria Curcio.
She graduated with a DipRAM, the highest distinction for performance and received an award for the best postgraduate pianist of the year. After graduation she worked as a teaching assistant for Maria Curcio until she returned to Japan in 2000.
She is currently based in Yokohama and playing solo and chamber music concerts with various artists.
